How to Convert an MP4 to Text

An MP4 is a video container that can include an audio track. Converting it to text means transcribing the spoken content, not simply extracting a text file from the container.

For People who need the spoken content of an MP4 as searchable, downloadable text.

Upload the MP4 directly

Check that the file plays and that its audio is understandable. BigTranscribe accepts supported video files up to 20 GB, so a separate audio conversion may not be necessary.

Select language and output

Review the automatically detected spoken language or choose it manually. Select Transcript only when you need text. Captioned video creates a different video output with subtitles for supported files.

Translation changes the output language and remains separately charged from transcript-only pricing.

Review and download

Check names, numbers and unclear words against the MP4. Download TXT, DOCX or PDF for readable text, or SRT and VTT when timed subtitle text is useful. Save the original MP4 with your output.
