USE CASE
Interview Transcription: A Practical Workflow
An interview transcript makes a conversation searchable and easier to review. BigTranscribe provides an initial transcript from your recording; careful checking is still essential when you quote or publish what someone said.
For Researchers, journalists, recruiters, students and anyone reviewing a recorded conversation.
Prepare the recording
Keep the original recording and confirm that both speakers are audible before uploading. A clear filename and a short listening check can prevent you from processing the wrong take.
Ask permission to record and process the interview under the arrangements that apply to your participants or organization.
- Listen to the beginning, middle and end.
- Note names, organizations and specialist terms that need checking.
- Keep an untouched copy for comparison.
Review overlap, names and quotations
Overlapping speech, room noise and unfamiliar names deserve a second listen. Compare every quotation with the audio and mark passages you cannot confidently identify instead of guessing.
If you lightly edit repetitions or grammar, keep that edited copy separate from the first transcript so the difference is clear.
Choose and save the result
Select Transcript only for written text and choose the source language or an available translation. The completed result can be downloaded in TXT, DOCX or PDF; SRT and VTT are useful when timing data is available.
Automated transcription is not human-certified transcription. Arrange professional review when your use requires a certified record.
